Busan Urban Corporation to Replace Aging Electrical Facilities in Rental Apartments

Focused Inspection and Replacement of Electricity and Fire Systems in Apartment Complexes... Proactive Disaster Safety Measures

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) announced on the 9th that it plans to carry out a replacement project for outdated electrical equipment in six public rental apartment complexes between October and November.

This project will target the aging electrical facilities in the following rental apartment complexes: Bugok, Dadae 3, Hakjang 1, Dongsam 1, Gaegum 2, and Dadae 5.

A total of 124 outdated distribution panels (including sub-panels and motor control panels) located in 21 buildings will be fully replaced, and additional control circuits for backup fire pumps will be installed to strengthen fire safety functions.

The distribution panel is a facility composed of circuit breakers, relays, and other components that protect and control electrical equipment. It is an essential facility that prevents electrical fires in the event of overcurrent in the apartment and ensures the smooth operation of firefighting equipment during a fire, thereby providing safety for residents.

Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "We will continue to make efforts to prevent electrical fires and provide a stable power supply for rental housing by comprehensively replacing outdated electrical equipment."

Busan Metropolitan Corporation has previously replaced the power receiving and transforming facilities in all rental apartment electrical rooms. Since 2022, the corporation has been conducting electrical safety inspections for permanent rental housing, making every effort to ensure stable power supply and electrical safety management. Over the next five years, BMC plans to further strengthen electrical safety management by sequentially expanding the replacement of outdated power generation facilities and distribution panels.
