Sancheong County, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 9th that Ungok Village in Sancheong-eup and Daehyeon Village in Obu-myeon have been selected for the 2025 Rural Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project (Saetteul Maeul Project).
The selected villages will receive a total project budget of 3.8 billion KRW (70% national funding, 30% local funding) and will implement the project over four years from 2025 to 2028.

The preliminary project plan includes the demolition of vacant houses and the renovation of slate roofs, as well as the improvement of deteriorated homes. Additionally, the plan aims to drastically improve residential conditions by removing traditional toilets, renovating communal facilities, installing guardrails, fire hydrants, and CCTV, and repairing old fences.
The driving force behind the selection was the proactive commitment of the residents of Ungok and Daehyeon Villages. The villagers voluntarily held several community forums and visited advanced sites, refining their project plans and making dedicated efforts to be selected for the project.
As a result, after an in-person evaluation by Gyeongnam Province and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the villages were ultimately chosen as project sites.
County Governor Lee Seunghwa stated, "The reason we were able to be selected for the Saetteul Maeul Project was thanks to the active efforts and participation of the residents of the two villages," adding, "We will continue to proactively identify villages with vulnerable living conditions and safety issues and take the lead in reflecting the voices of local residents."
