Starbucks Offers 1000 Won Discount on Decaf Coffee in the Afternoon

From the 9th to the 22nd, from 2 PM to 8 PM

Starbucks Korea announced on the 9th that it will hold an event offering a 1,000 KRW discount to customers who order a decaffeinated grande size beverage. The event runs from the 9th to the 22nd, with the discount available from 2 PM to 8 PM.

This event was organized to introduce Starbucks' diverse lineup of decaffeinated coffee beverages, which perfectly maintain the original taste and aroma of coffee based on differentiated technology, amid a sharp increase in demand for decaffeinated coffee.

The representative decaffeinated coffees currently available at Starbucks include five types: 'Caff? Americano,' 'Caff? Latte,' 'Flat White,' 'Caramel Macchiato,' and 'Starbucks Dolce Latte.' Starbucks also operates a '1/2 Decaf' lineup that reduces caffeine content by half.

The event targets five decaffeinated beverages (Caff? Americano, Caff? Latte, Flat White, Caramel Macchiato, Starbucks Dolce Latte), and Starbucks membership members receive an immediate 1,000 KRW discount when paying for a hot/iced grande size.

As this event is for all Starbucks members, the 1,000 KRW discount is provided not only for in-store POS payments but also for orders placed through Siren Order or Delivers.

The reason Starbucks planned the decaffeinated beverage discount event during the afternoon hours is that decaffeinated espresso tends to sell more during the afternoon compared to regular espresso for the same beverage.

According to Starbucks' analysis of the sales volume by time for the five event-targeted beverages sold last month, the proportion of decaffeinated espresso sold after 2 PM was 50%, which is 15 percentage points higher than regular espresso at 35%.

Unlike regular espresso beverages that are mainly sold in the morning, people who want to enjoy coffee without the burden of caffeine choose decaffeinated espresso beverages even in the afternoon.
