Busan Office of Education Reports High Satisfaction Among Students and Parents with Busan-style Neulbom School

Results of On-Site Inspection by Parent Monitoring Group Revealed

Reflecting Parents' Demands... Practical Support for Childcare

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 9th that, according to a monitoring survey conducted by a parent monitoring group at 191 elementary schools, both students and parents expressed overall satisfaction with the operation of the Neulbom School program.

In April, the Busan Office of Education organized a parent monitoring group of 25 members, with five from each district office of education, to check the current status of Neulbom School operations. The goal was to identify best practices and address shortcomings by having parents directly inspect the sites from their perspective.

The monitoring group found, after inspecting Neulbom School sites through last month, that education stakeholders were generally satisfied with the program's operation.

Among the schools, Yeonsan Elementary School added integrated arts, literature, and physical education programs such as drawing, paper folding, and flying activities to its existing first-grade school adaptation program, based on the results of a parent demand survey for the Neulbom Summer School. Parents reported high satisfaction with the school's active response to their requests.

At Dusil Elementary School, paid meal services were provided during the summer vacation for children of dual-income families after a parent demand survey, which increased satisfaction levels. Parents responded that meal provision during vacation was a great help in caring for their children.

Neulbom instructors at Geohak Elementary School provided detailed information on the content and results of the first semester learning-type Neulbom program through letters, which led to high satisfaction among both students and parents.

Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "Our office is leading various educational policies such as Morning Change and Neulbom School based on continuous communication with education stakeholders," and added, "As with the case of the Myeongji Neulbom Specialized School, which will open on the 12th, we will further communicate with the educational community to operate Neulbom School in a way that reflects local conditions and needs."
