Open from 9 AM to 2 AM the next day, youth can use it for 500 won
Private reading seats and cafe-style rest areas provided, with free Wi-Fi and tablet rental services
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) is creating an autonomous learning space called ‘Mapo Central Library Space’ at Mapo Central Library and will hold the ‘Space Day’ event on the 9th.
‘Space’ is a study cafe-style facility established by Mapo-gu, providing a comfortable and safe environment for not only teenagers but also all residents to study.
The newly opened ‘Mapo Central Library Space’ is the fourth autonomous learning space following ‘Mapo Naru Space,’ ‘Hapjeong Space,’ and ‘Yeomri Space.’
Mapo-gu has completely remodeled the space formerly used as a gallery on the first floor of Mapo Central Library into a safe and pleasant autonomous learning space.
The 300㎡ ‘Space’ includes 100 individual reading seats and a cafe-style resting area. Each individual seat is equipped with a personal power outlet and free Wi-Fi to enhance convenience for learners using electronic devices.
Additionally, Mapo-gu offers tablet rentals and a video electronic library service that can be used for studying.
The usage fee for ‘Mapo Central Library Space’ is 500 KRW per session for youth under 24 years old and 5,000 KRW for adults, in accordance with the ‘Ordinance on the Installation and Operation of Youth Facilities in Mapo-gu, Seoul.’
The operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next day, allowing users to freely use ‘Mapo Central Library Space’ at an affordable price even during late-night hours.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “We have created the public study cafe ‘Space’ so that teenagers can focus on studying without financial burden,” and added, “I hope that using the services of Mapo Central Library together will maximize learning effectiveness.”
‘Mapo Central Library Space’ will be officially available for use starting September 10.
