From now on, automobile manufacturers and importers must provide consumers with information about the battery and battery cells when selling electric vehicles. Additionally, information about the battery and battery cells must be displayed on the vehicle registration certificate.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 6th, as part of the "Electric Vehicle Fire Safety Management Measures" presented at the State Affairs Related Ministers' Meeting, that it will enforce mandatory disclosure of electric vehicle battery information by publicly notifying amendments to the "Enforcement Rules of the Motor Vehicle Management Act" and the "Vehicle Registration Rules" for 40 days from the 10th of this month until the 21st of next month.
The information to be provided includes the battery capacity, nominal voltage, maximum output, and the manufacturer, type, and main materials of the battery cells.
An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, "In response to the recent electric vehicle fire incidents and the growing public interest in battery information, we plan to guarantee the public's right to know about electric vehicle safety by mandating the disclosure of electric vehicle battery information."
