Official Operation of 'Robot Delivery' Starting from the 9th
Delivery app Yogiyo announced on the 9th that it will launch and officially operate its autonomous single-house delivery service, ‘Robot Delivery.’ Yogiyo signed an agreement with autonomous robot service company Newility in June and has been conducting pilot tests, starting on-site service in Songdo, Incheon.
Starting today, Yogiyo’s ‘Robot Delivery’ deployed on-site will deliver food to apartment complexes, university areas, and large office buildings instead of riders. Optimized for short-distance delivery, ‘Robot Delivery’ is a single-order delivery service that delivers one order at a time within a maximum radius of 1.2 km from the store, and both restaurants and customers can use the service for free.
At the store, after preparing the food as with regular delivery, the food is loaded onto the robot when it arrives. Customers can select a pickup location through the Yogiyo app, and when the robot arrives at the agreed location, they receive their food.
The robots used in ‘Robot Delivery’ operate at a maximum speed of about 5.76 km/h according to current laws, and safely reduce speed when encountering people, obstacles, or narrow sidewalks. Equipped with autonomous driving technology that moves stably through complex urban areas, it enables safe sidewalk navigation even on crowded pedestrian paths.
Yogiyo plans to increase delivery efficiency by enabling robot delivery in areas where rider supply is difficult and to offer customers a diverse ordering experience. Yogiyo CTO Jang Su-baek said, "As autonomous robot technology advances, we aim to provide customers with smart delivery technology," adding, "Starting from Songdo, we plan to continuously expand robot delivery to various regions."
Lee Sang-min, CEO of Newility, said, "We will continue to strive to provide a safer and more efficient delivery experience through ongoing technological improvements and service optimization."
