Hyundai Motor World Rally Team Sweeps 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place at WRC Greece Rally

Hyundai Motor Company raised the possibility of winning the season by securing its fourth victory of the year at the 2024 WRC Greece Rally.

Hyundai announced on the 9th that all drivers of the Hyundai World Rally Team swept the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, achieving a triple podium at the 10th round of the 2024 WRC (World Rally Championship) held in Lamia, Greece, from the 5th to the 8th (local time).

The official name of the Greece Rally is the "Acropolis Rally Greece." It is considered one of the most challenging regions in the WRC rally courses due to its rough unpaved roads and high temperatures. The 305.3 km rugged driving course was a key point to watch, highlighting how flexibly manufacturers and drivers could adapt.

In this race, three drivers?Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo, and Ott T?nak?competed with the Hyundai World Rally Team's 'i20 N Rally1 Hybrid' race cars. The reason Hyundai World Rally Team achieved the best result by sweeping the entire podium in this rally was mainly due to optimizing the condition of the 'i20 N Rally1 Hybrid' race cars to suit the hot climate and unpaved roads of the Acropolis Rally.

Hyundai's Thierry Neuville claimed an overwhelming first place with a lead of over one minute, delivering the Hyundai World Rally Team its fourth victory of the season. Hyundai teammates Dani Sordo and Ott T?nak also faced some early issues but secured 2nd and 3rd places respectively through stable driving, completing the triple podium.

Thierry Neuville earned a total of 24 points in the driver category, maintaining his position as the number one driver in the rankings. The Hyundai World Rally Team also secured 50 points in total, maintaining its top spot in the manufacturer category thanks to the consistent performance of its drivers.

A Hyundai Motor Company official said, "We are very pleased to achieve our fourth victory in the 2024 WRC season," adding, "We will do our best to show a good performance to N brand and motorsports fans in the second half of the season."

Meanwhile, the WRC is a world-class motorsports competition organized by the F?d?ration Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). Champions in the manufacturer and driver categories are determined based on annual race results held in various environments, from paved roads to unpaved roads and snowy tracks.

This year’s WRC consists of a total of 13 rounds, with the 11th round scheduled to be held in Chile from the 26th to the 29th.
