SK Telecom and SPC Group announced on the 9th that they have signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) to strengthen all-around cooperation based on AI technology. The signing ceremony held at the SKT Tower in Euljiro, Seoul, in the morning was attended by SKT CEO Yoo Young-sang and SPC Group Vice President Heo Hee-soo, among others.
Through the MOU, the two companies will provide innovative partnership services and solutions utilizing AI technology. Specifically, they plan to collaborate in four main areas: ▲ partnership cooperation for services and businesses using AI technology ▲ development of B2B (business-to-business) solution products for retail stores ▲ marketing partnerships and improvement of membership app usability ▲ formation of a task force (TF) to discover joint business opportunities.
First, they will promote the integration of AI agent-based services to enhance consumer interaction. Customers will be able to check product and store information provided by SPC’s Happy Point app, as well as their point balances, through conversational natural language, and in the long term, personalized product recommendations based on consumer demand will also be pursued.
SKT’s AI personal assistant service, A. (A-dot), recently underwent a revamp that separated the AI functions previously provided integrally within the app into specialized agents by domain. Going forward, SKT plans to expand the AI ecosystem through various external collaborations, and this partnership is being promoted as part of that plan.
B2B business cooperation targeting retail stores will also be intensified. The two companies will promote the development of franchise as a service (FaaS) solutions that include ▲ store management solutions based on customer behavior data analysis ▲ AI-based inventory management solutions ▲ smart retail systems. They also plan to expand their business by launching exclusive bundled products for SPC franchises and small business stores in cooperation with SK Broadband.
They will also pursue ways to link their separately operated membership services (T Membership and Happy Point) and expand personalized experiences using AI. For example, customers will be able to accumulate Happy Point together through the barcode in the T Membership app, or receive T Membership discounts or points simultaneously when purchasing products via ‘Happy Order’ in the Happy Point app. Additionally, new experiences such as AI-based unused coupon reminder functions will be provided to increase satisfaction among the membership customers of both companies.
Furthermore, a task force will be formed to continuously strengthen AI-based cooperation and discover joint business opportunities, continuously exploring new business opportunities such as AI partnerships and B2B businesses.
SKT CEO Yoo Young-sang said, "This cooperation will be a meaningful case of achieving successful AI transformation through synergy between the leading companies in each field."
SPC Group Vice President Heo Hee-soo stated, "Through the capabilities and know-how possessed by SPC Group, a leading company in each business field, and SKT, we will be able to provide customers with more innovative and differentiated experiences."
