Ulsan City Implements Special Emergency Medical Measures for Chuseok Holiday

September 11-25 Designated as 'Chuseok Holiday Emergency Response Week'

Mayor Kim Dookyum's First Schedule After Returning Home ... Inspects Ulsan University Hospital First

All Emergency Medical Institutions Operating Normally, More Hospitals, Clinics, and Pharmacies Open

Ulsan City will operate an emergency medical care system during the Chuseok holiday to prevent any gaps in medical services.

The city has designated September 11 to 25 as the Chuseok Emergency Response Week and will implement special measures to strengthen the emergency medical system during the holiday period.

In particular, Mayor Kim Dukyum, after returning from a 7-night, 9-day overseas business trip to promote the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo and secure workforce for the shipbuilding industry, will visit Ulsan University Hospital, the regional emergency medical center, at 9:30 a.m. on the 9th to directly check the emergency medical situation.

At this site, after encouraging the medical staff who are doing their best to maintain the emergency response system 24 hours a day, he will request their active cooperation in minimizing medical service gaps so that citizens can receive care without disruption.

As a special measure for emergency medical care during the Chuseok holiday, a 'Emergency Medical Management Situation Room' will be established with Mayor Kim Dukyum as the head, focusing all efforts on operating a stable emergency medical and on-call care system.

With concerns that prolonged medical service gaps and COVID-19 may increase inconvenience for citizens during the Chuseok holiday, all 12 emergency medical institutions (facilities), including four regional emergency medical centers, will operate their emergency rooms as usual.

In addition, a dedicated manager (12 in total) will be assigned to each emergency medical institution to monitor hospital-specific emergency situations daily and respond promptly to any incidents.

To make it easier for patients with mild symptoms to access medical services during the holiday, the number of open clinics and pharmacies has increased compared to the Lunar New Year holiday. From the 14th to the 18th, 316 clinics (compared to 100 during Lunar New Year) and 600 pharmacies (compared to 318 during Lunar New Year) will be open.

To establish a COVID-19 medical response system, two hospital-level medical institutions (Ulsan Jeil Hospital and Seoulsan Boram Hospital) have been designated as 'fever clinic hospitals,' and five medical institutions (Donggang, Ulsan, Good Samjeong, Joongang, and Seoulsan Boram Hospitals) as 'cooperative care hospitals' to provide patient care and hospitalization if necessary.

Information on open emergency rooms, clinics, and pharmacies will be provided to citizens through the city, district, and county websites, the Emergency Medical Portal, the Emergency Medical Information App, the 119 Emergency Situation Management Center, the 120 Haeuli Call Center, and the 129 Health and Welfare Call Center.

Mayor Kim Dukyum said, "Even as the nationwide medical service gap continues, citizens are actively cooperating by using local clinics for minor symptoms, which greatly helps Ulsan University Hospital focus on treating severe and emergency patients," and added, "We will mobilize all local medical resources to minimize inconvenience for citizens seeking care during the holiday period."
