Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has won the "Policy Award" at the "2024 Youth-Friendly Governance Awards."
The "Youth-Friendly Governance Awards" are given to local governments that have contributed to creating a youth-friendly environment through youth policy implementation, communication with youth, and youth support projects. It has been organized by the Youth and Future Corporation, a nonprofit under the National Assembly Secretariat, since 2018.
Geumcheon-gu achieved a remarkable feat by winning a total of five awards, including the Grand Prize in 2019 and the Policy Award three times from 2020 to 2022, and again this year.
This year, the selection committee, composed of youth judges, university professors, CEOs, lawyers, journalists, and experts from various fields, evaluated candidates based on a youth index to determine the winners.
Geumcheon-gu received high evaluations for its achievements in youth policies, including operating the youth activity space "Cheongchun Building," creating the Geumcheon Youth Dream Center to support youth startups, establishing the Youth Future Fund, building a youth policy network through the Geumcheon Youth Policy Supporters and Geumcheon Youth Festival Planning Group, and strengthening youth employment capabilities and housing welfare support.
The award ceremony was held on the 7th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, Conference Room 1, alongside the 8th Korea Youth Day celebration.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "We are very pleased that Geumcheon-gu has firmly established itself as a youth-friendly city by winning the Youth-Friendly Governance Award," and added, "We will continue to spare no support for the youth of Geumcheon who dream and challenge themselves."
