Gwanak-gu Selects Approximately 1.47 Billion Won for 2025 Resident Participation Budget Projects

A total of 35 projects worth 1.47 billion KRW selected through the Resident Participation Budget Adjustment Council on the 4th
Finalized after review by Gwanak-gu Council in December, scheduled to be implemented from 2025

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) selected next year's resident participation budget through the Resident Participation Budget Adjustment Council on the 4th, totaling 35 projects and 1.47 billion KRW.

The resident participation budget is meaningful in that it guarantees residents' opportunities to participate in the budget formulation process, enhances transparency and publicness in financial management, and realizes fiscal democracy.

The district is strengthening various resident participation channels such as the online Gwanak Office, Dong Resident Participation Budget Meetings, Mobile Gwanak Office, and public forums, aiming for an open administration with residents in the 8th term following the 7th term of the elected government.

In particular, to address local community inconveniences, resolve long-standing projects, and improve resident convenience, the district has actively utilized the resident participation budget system where residents directly ▲propose ▲deliberate ▲select projects, reflecting residents' innovative ideas in district administration.

This year, to successfully promote the 2025 resident participation budget projects, the district received a total of 255 diverse projects worth about 10.8 billion KRW through a focused public contest from April to May.

The submitted resident-proposed projects were reviewed by the relevant departments and five subcommittees and the steering committee, focusing on compliance with related laws, project feasibility, urgency, and necessity, resulting in the selection of a total of 35 projects worth 1.47 billion KRW across various fields.

The project contents include ▲‘Small Business Air Conditioner Clean Care’ to support small business owners as a pillar of the local economy ▲‘Dementia Education and Visiting Health Management’ for healthy aging in a super-aged society ▲‘Gwanaksan Mountain Trail Improvement’ for pleasant leisure activities ▲‘Installation of Speed Bumps on Hills (in front of Eutteum Children's Park)’ for creating a safe environment ▲and ‘Children's Playground Program Operation’ for a child-friendly city Gwanak where children are also happy.

The 35 projects will be finalized through deliberation and resolution by the Gwanak District Council in December and will be actively promoted by each responsible department next year.

Additionally, members of the Resident Participation Budget Committee will continuously monitor the project execution process, comprehensively understanding ▲the proposer's intent ▲resident satisfaction ▲project effectiveness, ensuring transparency in execution and solid operation of the resident participation system.

The district expects that the resident participation budget system will strengthen grassroots resident autonomy, realize heartfelt administration through listening (以聽得心, Icheongdeuksim), and achieve a communication and cooperative governance.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “We will continue to strive to create a happy Gwanak-gu where residents build together through continuous implementation of ‘communication and cooperative governance’ and strengthening grassroots resident autonomy,” adding, “We especially ask for residents' great interest and active participation.”
