This visit was made at the request of the Swedish Parliament's Health and Welfare Committee to benchmark Yongin City's care services utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology and big data, and to promote mutual exchange.
The city introduced the Swedish delegation to welfare services currently implemented, such as 'AI Anbudundeun', 'Yongin Silver Care Suni', and 'Waflat Public Service'.
'AI Anbudundeun' is a service that supports socially isolated households by analyzing daily electricity, telecommunications, and smartphone usage data to check on their well-being through AI calls and respond promptly in emergencies. The senior care service 'Yongin Silver Care Suni' uses AI to check morning and evening voice greetings, medication adherence, and healthy lifestyle management to support the health and daily lives of the elderly.
The digital senior care 'Waflat Public Service' monitors the health status of the elderly in real time through a non-face-to-face automatic monitoring system and notifies life support workers when abnormal signs occur to provide follow-up services. Along with this, the city explained various life-empathy welfare systems such as ▲repair services for minor malfunctions for elderly living alone ▲installation support for ramps for mobility-impaired persons ▲free delivery service from a toy library for families with disabled children.
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, introduced, "Among Yongin City's population of 1.1 million, about 170,000 are elderly aged 65 or older, accounting for nearly 16%." He added, "The city is making significant investments in social welfare and is also making many efforts to learn advanced systems." Mayor Lee said, "Since Sweden is leading in the field of social welfare, we look forward to cooperating with each other in the future."
Christian Karlsson, Chairman of the Swedish Parliament's Health and Welfare Committee, expressed his thoughts, saying, "As we prepare for an aging society, we have learned a lot and gained inspiration on how to assist the elderly and utilize AI in connection with welfare services."
