According to the AP News and local media VN Express on the 8th, Yagi made landfall on the northeastern coast of Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam, around 1 p.m. the previous day with maximum wind speeds of 166 km/h, resulting in 4 deaths and 78 injuries.

Several ships anchored at the port were swept out to sea, and one person drowned during this process. There were also cases of fatalities caused by roofs collapsing due to strong winds and heavy rain.

Thousands of trees were uprooted and utility poles fell in the capital Hanoi and other areas. Many houses were damaged, with roofs blown away by the strong winds.

Public transportation in Hanoi was suspended the previous day. Large-scale power outages occurred in Quang Ninh Province, Thai Binh Province, and other areas.

Authorities evacuated residents in high-risk areas in preparation for floods and landslides and closed four airports including Hanoi and Haiphong.

Quang Ninh Province is home to Ha Long Bay, a famous tourist destination designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. Cruise and other ship operations were canceled.

The Vietnam Meteorological Agency stated, "Yagi is the most powerful typhoon to make landfall in the past 10 years."

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh ordered all ministries and local governments to respond with full force to protect lives and property.

Before Vietnam, China and the Philippines also suffered massive damage due to Yagi.

After Yagi made landfall on the coast of Wenchang City, Hainan Island, southern China on the 6th, 3 people died and 95 were injured in China.

In the Philippines, floods and landslides caused 16 deaths and 21 people went missing.

Yagi, which passed through Hanoi in Vietnam, is expected to weaken into a tropical depression by the afternoon of the same day.
