Operation of Comprehensive Situation Room and Functional Task Forces from 13th to 19th
Enhanced Cleaning and Patrol in Tourist Areas like Myeongdong and Dongdaemun
Jung-gu District in Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gil-seong) has prepared a comprehensive plan for Chuseok and will implement it over seven days from the 13th to the 19th. To ensure smooth execution of measures in five areas?public welfare (sharing, price stabilization, etc.), transportation (crackdown on taxi ride refusals, illegal parking, etc.), daily life (waste disposal, lifestyle information, etc.), safety (disaster response, medical system, etc.), and establishment of public service discipline?a comprehensive situation room and specialized task forces will be operated.
Jung-gu will provide holiday consolation money to 3,900 households and expand the Onnuri gift certificates previously given to elderly living alone and single-parent families from 30,000 KRW to 50,000 KRW. For children at risk of missing meals, holiday meal support will be provided, and seniors and people with disabilities will share traditional holiday foods such as songpyeon to help them enjoy a warm holiday.
Patrols will be intensified in areas where homeless people frequently gather, such as Seoul Station and Namdaemun, as well as in jjokbangchon (small room villages), and emergency preparedness will be ensured through operation of medical facilities for the homeless. Additionally, to stabilize prices, monitoring of prices for essential goods will be conducted at traditional markets and large supermarkets, and unfair trade practices will be strictly cracked down on.
To eradicate taxi ride refusals and solicitation during the Chuseok holiday, intensive crackdowns on illegal activities will be conducted near Seoul Station and other areas from September 15 to 18. Illegal parking and stopping in congested areas such as subway stations, department stores, and large shopping centers will also be targeted to ensure smooth vehicle traffic. Around Bangsan Market, 24-hour parking will be temporarily allowed from the 13th to the 19th.
Thorough waste collection measures have also been prepared for the holiday period. Waste disposal is prohibited from September 15 to 17 and must be done after 7 p.m. on the 18th. To prevent illegal dumping and manage waste generated during the holiday, patrols will be strengthened in tourist-heavy areas such as Myeongdong and Dongdaemun, as well as in areas vulnerable to cleanliness issues. A cleaning situation room will be operated to receive and handle cleaning complaints.
The emergency response system will be strengthened for residents' safety. A disaster situation room will be operated to prepare for fires and various disasters, and a flood and wind damage task force will be activated to respond swiftly to weather conditions and accidents such as typhoons and heavy rain, maintaining a state of readiness.
In addition, hygiene inspections will be conducted at restaurants and food manufacturing and sales businesses, and origin labeling of agricultural and marine products will be checked at traditional markets, large supermarkets, and department stores. Safety inspections will also be carried out on roads, construction sites, and multi-use facilities.
Measures to minimize medical service gaps have also been established. During the holiday, Jung-gu Public Health Center will operate an ‘Emergency Medical Team.’ On September 14, 16, and 17, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., doctors and nurses at the health center will provide internal medicine consultations for colds, abdominal pain, and other conditions.
From the 14th to the 18th, an ‘Emergency Medical Situation Room’ will operate from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. to receive emergency medical-related complaints and provide information on hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies available for treatment, supporting residents to have a healthy holiday.
Furthermore, the emergency room at the National Medical Center will operate 24 hours, and three public night and holiday health care clinics?365 On Gajeong Clinic, Seoul Gajeong Clinic, and Yonsei Malgeun Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic?will continue to provide care. A total of 127 hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies in the district will also remain open. Detailed medical schedules can be checked through the Emergency Medical Portal.
District Mayor Kim Gil-seong stated, “Even during the Chuseok holiday, the district office will do its utmost to thoroughly implement measures in each sector to ensure residents experience no inconvenience.”
