Gyeonggi Province is set to gather residents' opinions by the end of October ahead of the ‘Gyeonggi Residents Policy Festival’ scheduled for early November.
Now in its sixth year, the Gyeonggi Residents Policy Festival will focus on specific issues this year to hear vivid opinions from residents and serve as a platform for participatory democracy.
To this end, Gyeonggi Province will visit subway stations with high public transportation usage under the slogan ‘Well-connected Gyeonggi Province, Closer to Residents’ to provide information on public transportation policies most relevant to residents' daily lives. Various programs such as interviews about residents' lives, Gyeonggi transportation policy quizzes and surveys, and a one-day transportation card class will be offered.
The visit locations include Okjeong Elementary School, Pangyo Station, Mangpo Station, Yadang Station, Unyang Station, Samsong Station, Daehwa Station, the old provincial government office, Jukjeon Station, Dongtan Station, Beomgye Station, Bucheon Station, Guri Station, and Uijeongbu Station.
The collected opinions will be disclosed at the Gyeonggi Residents Policy Festival held in early November.
Gyeonggi Province is also conducting a photo contest titled ‘Our Neighborhood Bus Stop’ to gather improvement suggestions for bus stops frequently used by residents.
The submission period is until the 22nd of this month. Any resident can take photos of their proud neighborhood bus stops and submit them online through Gyeonggi Province’s voice platform (vog.gg.go.kr). A total of 40 winners will be awarded in two categories: special bus stops and bus stops friendly to transportation-vulnerable groups.
Ryu Hoguk, Director of Communication and Cooperation at Gyeonggi Province, said, "To overcome the limitations of traditional methods of gathering residents' opinions, we planned a method of directly visiting residents." He added, "Please share your sincere opinions while using public transportation during work hours or on your way home."
