North Korea has sent trash balloons toward the south for five consecutive days.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on the 8th, "North Korea has once again launched trash balloons since around 9 a.m."
The Joint Chiefs urged caution regarding the falling trash balloon payloads and requested that if any fallen balloons are found, people should not touch them and report to the nearest military unit or police station.
North Korea has released trash balloons 17 times since the end of May.
According to the military, North Korea launched about 200 trash balloons from evening to night the previous day, and around 50 debris items were confirmed to have fallen in Seoul and northern Gyeonggi Province.
The contents were identified by the military as paper, vinyl, plastic bottles, etc., with no hazardous materials found.
The Joint Chiefs stated, "We will respond calmly and resolutely according to the response manual, prioritizing the safety of the public."
