Hero Support Program Activated
Starbucks Korea expresses its gratitude to the Republic of Korea Armed Forces personnel for their dedication in celebration of the upcoming Armed Forces Day.
This year, Starbucks launched the ‘Hero Support Program’ to convey thanks and respect to heroes dedicating themselves across various sectors of society. In May, Starbucks participated in the '2024 Military Personnel Employment Fair' and selected the armed forces personnel as the first heroes.
To provide full support for the armed forces personnel selected as the first heroes, Starbucks signed a business agreement with the Ministry of National Defense at the Yongsan Ministry of National Defense building on the 6th regarding support for military personnel.
Based on this agreement, starting in October, Starbucks will carry out support activities for military personnel including ▲providing Americano coupons to all soldiers ▲offering beverages during visits to frontline units ▲conducting employment fairs and career counseling sessions.
First, in October, all 510,000 military personnel will receive Americano coupons through a military-exclusive app, and on October 1, Armed Forces Day, Starbucks stores located near major military units will use sleeves bearing messages of support for the soldiers.
Additionally, during the agreement period, Starbucks plans to visit frontline units directly to provide beverages to about 10,000 soldiers and offer employment counseling to those preparing for discharge to help strengthen their job readiness, continuing activities to express gratitude.
In fact, Starbucks has participated in employment fairs for military personnel for three consecutive years since 2022, prior to the agreement, and on the 5th, held a job briefing session for soldiers preparing for discharge to support their stable transition into society. To date, approximately 1,245 military personnel have received career counseling from Starbucks.
Starbucks plans to continue various hero support programs in the future for those dedicating themselves to the country in fields such as firefighters and police officers.
Kim Sun-ho, Vice Minister of National Defense, said, “We appreciate the active support and welfare benefits provided to soldiers dedicating themselves to the nation,” and added, “We hope that the various welfare benefits provided through the agreement with Starbucks will boost the morale of the soldiers.”
Shin Dong-woo, Head of Strategic Planning at Starbucks, stated, “This will be a meaningful partnership that conveys our gratitude to the armed forces personnel and practically supports their job readiness before discharge,” and added, “Starbucks will continue to do its best to discover and support heroes dedicating themselves in various fields.”
