Starting this month, SKT and the National Police Agency are conducting a joint campaign utilizing RCS messaging services to prevent and eradicate youth drug crimes and deepfake production crimes targeting adolescents.

The message titled "Youth Drug Crime Prevention Measures and Response Methods," which has been sent since the 3rd, aims to raise awareness among youth about the dangers of drug crimes and provides parents with practical prevention tips, including key observation points and response methods for their children’s drug prevention in daily life.

At the end of this month, RCS messages for deepfake crime prevention will be sent to youth and parent customers. These messages will include prevention measures and precautions regarding deepfake production crimes.

The RCS messaging service offers highly visible design and can deliver necessary information in various ways. In particular, it blocks illegal spam abuse at the source through prior verification of the companies and agencies sending the messages, and provides a safety mark to prevent impersonation of public institutions.

Leveraging these advantages, SKT and the National Police Agency have been continuously running campaigns since May to protect socially vulnerable groups and create a safer society, including promoting the fingerprint pre-registration system for missing children prevention, cyber violence prevention, and gambling crime prevention.

SKT is also conducting RCS public service message campaigns targeting a total of eight organizations, including the Korean Red Cross, Korea National Park Service, and Save the Children, and plans to continuously expand collaborative partners to take the lead in practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.

The National Police Agency plans to conduct special preventive education focused on addictive crimes such as gambling and drugs, as well as sex crimes including deepfake production, to raise awareness, and will strengthen promotions targeting students and parents in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

Lee Sang-gu, Head of SKT Messaging CO, stated, "The RCS messaging service offers higher readability and reliability compared to traditional text messages from the recipient’s perspective, making it useful for various public interest campaigns. Through this support project, we will sincerely advance ESG support initiatives aimed at solving social challenges and strive to establish RCS messaging as a more effective service."

Han Chang-hoon, Director of the National Police Agency’s Life Safety and Traffic Bureau, said, "We will actively carry out prevention and promotional activities to garner public interest and participation in creating a safe society free from crimes such as deepfake, gambling, and drugs that leave indelible scars on youth."
