Issuance of 18 Billion Won Scale Seongdong Love Gift Certificates, Focused Welfare Checks for Vulnerable Groups, Residential Environment Inspections and Support to Carefully Monitor Residents' Daily Lives

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will implement a comprehensive plan covering six major areas?safety, traffic, daily life, prices, sharing, and public service discipline?for seven days starting from September 13 to ensure residents can spend a safe and warm holiday.

Prevention of Safety Accidents

This Chuseok comprehensive plan places special emphasis on safety management. To respond promptly to disasters and safety accidents, a disaster safety control room will operate 24 hours a day. Additionally, a field response team will be separately deployed around Seongsu-dong to prepare for crowd congestion. Safety inspections of various facilities such as traditional markets, performance venues, and multi-use facilities will be completed before the holiday.

Minimizing Daily Life Inconveniences and Providing Traffic Convenience

To prevent medical service gaps during the holiday, an emergency medical response control room will be operated. On September 14, 16, and 17, internal medicine services at the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center will also operate normally (9 AM to 6 PM).

To create a pleasant urban environment during the holiday, autonomous neighborhood clean-ups will be conducted by each district, and residents will be actively guided on proper garbage disposal to minimize inconvenience. Furthermore, parking enforcement around traditional markets and stations will be relaxed depending on traffic conditions, and public roadside parking lots will be opened free of charge to provide convenience to visitors and residents.

Price Stability Management

To ease the burden caused by soaring prices, a ‘Special Price Control Situation Room’ will operate for 10 days from September 11 to 20. Price trends of essential goods such as agricultural and livestock products and daily necessities will be monitored, and reports of unfair trade practices such as hoarding and collusion will be accepted.

Also, two rounds of Seongdong Love Gift Certificates worth 18 billion KRW will be issued before Chuseok. Chuseok events including Onnuri gift certificate giveaways and prize draws will be held at 13 traditional markets to reduce shopping costs and promote the local economy.

Spreading a Culture of Sharing

Various supports will be provided to ensure vulnerable groups are not left out and can spend a warm holiday. Meals such as lunch boxes and side dishes will be provided to seniors, children at risk of food insecurity, and people with disabilities. For housing-vulnerable groups living in semi-basements, rooftop rooms, and goshiwon (small rented rooms), neighborhood welfare and safety councils and local care teams will visit to provide donated items such as rice and ramen, as well as safety supplies like first aid kits. The well-being and health status of vulnerable groups, including households at high risk of solitary death, will be checked regularly to minimize care gaps.

During this holiday period, Seongdong Chaekmaru (1st floor of Seongdong-gu Office) will also be open continuously (9 AM to 9 PM). Salgot-i Baseball Stadium, Soccer Field, Majang Tennis Court, and Eungbong Futsal Field will be open as well (closed on Chuseok day) to enhance residents’ leisure convenience.

For detailed operation status of pharmacies, hospitals, animal hospitals, and sports facilities open during the Chuseok holiday, please check the Seongdong-gu Office website.

Mayor Jeong Won-oh said, "We will do our best to prevent various safety accidents by strengthening inspections and patrols during the holiday," and added, "We will carefully attend to residents’ daily lives so that no one is left out and everyone can spend a warm holiday."
