The Ministry of Environment announced on the 8th that it will provide free electric vehicle charging at six highway rest areas during the Chuseok holiday period.

The free charging service is available up to 20kW per electric vehicle, which is enough to drive approximately 100km. The rest areas selected are six locations where electric vehicle charging demand is expected to surge: ▲Giheung (towards Busan) ▲Geoncheon (towards Busan) ▲Geoncheon (towards Seoul) ▲Gunsan (towards Mokpo) ▲Sintanjin (towards Seoul) ▲Chiak (towards Chuncheon).

To minimize user inconvenience, the Ministry of Environment will also conduct inspections of zero-emission vehicle charging facilities nationwide from the 9th to the 13th. Management will include checking operational and malfunction status, parts availability, and maintenance systems. On the 13th, Minister Kim Wan-seop of the Ministry of Environment will personally inspect the chargers at Giheung Rest Area on the Gyeongbu Expressway.
