On the night of the 6th until the early morning of the 7th, North Korea released about 190 balloons carrying waste (trash), of which around 100 fell in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on the 7th.
The Joint Chiefs stated, "The confirmed contents of the balloons were paper, vinyl, plastic, and other household waste," adding, "Analysis showed no substances harmful to safety."
This is the 15th balloon sent by North Korea. North Korea sent balloons 10 times from the end of May until July 24. Then, on the 10th of last month, the 11th balloon was sent. Following that, from the 4th until the day before, balloons were sent southward four times over three consecutive days.
The military authorities continue to follow the existing policy of collecting the balloons after they fall.
