Large Fire at Cheonan Insulation Material Factory... Fire Department Issues 'Level 1' Response

Estimated Up to 50 Firefighting Equipment Units Deployed at Amassel Korea Factory

A fire broke out at around 10:15 a.m. on the 7th at an insulation material manufacturing factory in Seongnam-myeon, Cheonan-si, Chungnam Province. No casualties have been confirmed so far due to this fire. The fire authorities judged that the fire could spread further and issued a Level 1 response alert (mobilizing 31 to 50 pieces of equipment from 3 to 7 fire stations) to carry out firefighting operations.

The factory where the fire occurred is reported to be the Armacell Korea plant, the Korean branch of the German multinational company Armacell GmbH.

As smoke from the fire rose high, the fire authorities urged nearby residents and passing vehicles to be cautious. The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact scale of damage and the cause of the fire as soon as the fire is completely extinguished.
