Kkumdori Taxi to Operate Throughout Daejeon... Launch of Science City Taxi Brand

On the 6th, Daejeon City held a launch ceremony for the 'Kumdori Taxi' in front of the south gate of City Hall, attended by Mayor Lee Jangwoo, City Council Chair Cho Wonhui, and Kim Junon, Chairman of the Private Taxi Transportation Association.

Kumdori Taxi is a unique Daejeon taxi brand that features the city's representative character, the Kumdori family, on the taxi's roof sign and side wrapping design.

During the event, a commemorative photo was taken with eight lined-up Kumdori Taxis as the backdrop, followed by a car parade that started at the east gate of City Hall and circled the roads around the building for about 15 minutes.

The Kumdori Taxi roof sign was designed to depict the mascot Kumdori, symbolizing Daejeon as an advanced science city, riding a UFO. The city plans to install 500 units each of four types?Kumdori, Kumsuni, Kumdongi, and Kumgyeori?on a total of 2,000 private taxis by the 27th.

Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, "I hope the fun and creative 'Kumdori Taxi' will receive much love and support from citizens and help the struggling taxi industry," adding, "As the nation's first and only taxi brand featuring a city mascot, it will become a famous symbol that promotes Daejeon both domestically and internationally."
