On the 6th, the Presidential Office expressed a "positive" stance regarding Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party's proposal to form a 'ruling and opposition parliamentary consultative body.'

A senior official from the Presidential Office stated that morning, "It is a priority for the medical community to come to the negotiating table," adding, "If the medical sector presents a reasonable plan, we are willing to discuss the issue of medical school quotas from a zero base at any time."

The government is open to adjusting the medical school quota for 2026, which was announced as 2,000, if the medical community brings forth reasonable and concrete proposals.

Amid growing concerns over medical service gaps such as the recent 'emergency room rotation' issue, it is interpreted that the necessity for the government and the medical community to sit at the negotiation table to resolve the situation has increased.

A Presidential Office official said, "There is also a plan to form a ruling-opposition-medical-government consultative body to resolve the medical community crisis," adding, "If the medical community comes with reasonable and scientific estimates, we can discuss openly and sincerely with an open mind."

The official continued, "It is a priority for the medical community to come to the negotiating table," and added, "With participation from the medical community, government, and opposition parties, proper discussions should take place, and through positive negotiation processes, issues such as medical school quotas can be reviewed from a zero base."
