On the 4th, a post titled "My girlfriend says I have to sit down to urinate at home after marriage?is this a big deal?" was published on an online community. The author, a man identified as A, recalled, "When I occasionally visit my girlfriend's house, she tells me to sit down to urinate." He added, "I tried it a few times, but it felt uncomfortable. It felt like I needed to have a bowel movement." He continued, "When I asked if I could stand instead, she said absolutely not. She was very serious about it." He explained, "According to my girlfriend, if I urinate standing up, bacteria from the urine can splash onto the toothbrush. Out of respect for her, I sat down to urinate a few times while at her place."

However, he expressed discomfort, saying, "Last time, when I went into the bathroom, she opened the door to check whether I was standing or sitting." He added, "Since then, I avoid using the bathroom at her house. When I need to go, I go down to the commercial restroom located below." He also said, "At my own place, I obviously urinate standing up and clean up myself." When he asked his girlfriend what he should do after marriage, she said, "If there aren't two bathrooms to use separately, you must sit down to urinate." He asked for opinions, wondering, "Isn't this kind of issue serious enough to reconsider marriage?"

In fact, a study conducted in the United States proved that urine droplets can splash up to 3 meters when urinating standing up. If a toothbrush is within that radius, as the author's girlfriend said, there is a possibility that urine and fecal bacteria such as E. coli from the toilet bowl could contaminate the toothbrush. An experiment by Japan's Lion Corporation also found that about 2,300 tiny urine droplets are splashed when urinating standing up. The Kitasato Environmental Science Center announced that standing urination can cause splashes up to 40 cm on the bathroom floor radius and 30 cm high on the walls.

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "Just don't get married and live alone," "What's so hard about sitting down to do your business?" "I also sit down to urinate after marriage," and "If you lie down completely naked, you can feel the splashes."
