"Children Don't Care... It's a Matter of Other Parents' Perspectives"
The story of a British woman covered in about 800 tattoos all over her body has been shared. She complained that it has become difficult to even shop for school supplies for her children due to the stares from others.
On the 4th (local time), the British media outlet The Mirror highlighted Melissa Sloan (47), known as "the mom with the most tattoos in the UK." Sloan is a woman who has over 800 tattoos covering her entire body, including her head. According to the photos she shared with the media, her entire face, except for her eyes, nose, and lips, is densely covered with tattoos.
She expressed that it is difficult to go out with her children because of her appearance. Sloan said, "I want to shop for school supplies with my kids, but I can feel the stares from other parents," adding, "Often, other children see my tattoos and get scared, sometimes even crying." As a mother of seven children, Sloan reportedly applies thick foundation on her face to hide her tattoos when going out.
Due to the negative stares from those around her, Sloan has become reluctant to go out and relies on online shopping. Sometimes, she also receives help from her husband. Sloan said, "My children don’t care about the tattoos. It’s other people, especially other parents, who pay attention to them."
Over the past several years, Sloan has been banned from entering various places such as local pubs and churches. She also avoided going to the beach or wearing swimsuits because her children were frightened.
However, despite these inconveniences and social pressures, Sloan firmly stated that she does not regret her decision to have full-body tattoos. She said, "My tattoos should be accepted and understood by people," adding, "It’s just tiring to have to avoid public places because of those who lack understanding."
She added, "I love myself. If someone cannot handle my tattoos, that’s their problem."
