Targeting about 11,800 local reservists, round-trip shuttle service operates between Wangsimni Station and Geumgok Reserve Training Center to enhance admission convenience... Support ordinance enacted in September last year, with 1,017 users in the first half of the year, and a separate budget of 25 million KRW allocated for continued operation in the second half
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) operates a free shuttle bus to the reserve forces training center for the convenience of reservists attending training.
There are about 11,800 reservists residing in Seongdong-gu who are required to train at the Geumgok Reserve Forces Training Center located in Namyangju City. To get there, they had to transfer multiple times and often experienced inconvenience due to traffic congestion during rush hours.
In response, the district operates a dedicated free shuttle bus running between Wangsimni Station and the Geumgok Reserve Forces Training Center to facilitate reservists’ access to the training site. This service allows comfortable early morning travel to the training center and ensures safe return after training, resulting in high user satisfaction.
In September last year, the district enacted the Ordinance on Vehicle Operation Support for Seongdong-gu Reserve Forces Training Center, establishing a legal basis for operating the shuttle bus. To continuously promote the project, a separate budget of 25 million KRW was allocated for the second half of the year.
In the first half of this year, the shuttle bus operated 14 times, serving a total of 1,017 reservists, and it is planned to run about 20 times in the second half as well.
Those who wish to use the shuttle bus can check their reservist summons or notification text message and apply in advance through the Seoul Public Service Reservation website. On the day of use, passengers should board the bus by 7:40 a.m. in front of Exit 6-1 of Wangsimni Station. For more details, guidance is available from the Seongdong-gu Reserve Forces Mobile Unit or the respective reservist local unit.
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We operate the shuttle bus year-round to enhance the convenience and morale of reservists,” adding, “We will continue various support policies for reservists fulfilling their national defense duties.”
