From September 13 to 19, a 7-day 'Chuseok Comprehensive Plan' to Minimize Administrative Gaps
Focused Management on Four Key Areas Closely Related to Residents' Lives: Safety, Traffic, Daily Life, and Livelihood
24-Hour Operation of Comprehensive Situation Room and Formation of Sector-Specific Task Forces for Rapid Emergency Response
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that from September 13 to 19, it will implement a comprehensive “Chuseok Plan” focusing on four key areas: safety, traffic, daily life, and livelihood, to ensure a safe and comfortable Chuseok holiday for its residents.
Especially this year, considering the prolonged medical service gaps and rapid climate changes, the district will prioritize the health and safety of its residents, while also focusing on maintaining basic administrative services such as cleaning and parking, and stabilizing livelihoods.
To this end, the district will operate a comprehensive situation room 24 hours a day for seven days starting September 13, and establish task forces in areas such as safety, traffic, cleaning, and medical care to prepare for emergencies.
■ Strengthening Resident Safety
In response to the prolonged medical service gaps, the public health center will strengthen the emergency medical system. An emergency medical situation room will operate for five days starting September 14, and emergency medical teams will be newly deployed on three days?September 15, 17, and 18?to respond swiftly to emergency patients. The number of hospitals and clinics open compared to previous years will also be expanded to maintain the emergency medical system.
Full efforts will be made to respond to unpredictable disasters. In preparation for recent consecutive electric vehicle fires, fire extinguishers will be newly installed at 46 public parking lots and affiliated parking lots owned by the district, and the proper functioning of electric vehicle charging facilities will be pre-checked. Additionally, real-time weather monitoring will be conducted to prepare for autumn typhoons and monsoons, with inspections of flood control facilities such as eight rainwater pumping stations and 23 sluice gates, as well as special inspections of road facilities, construction sites, and multi-use facilities. Food hygiene inspections for Chuseok seasonal products will also be strengthened to ensure a healthy holiday table.
■ Establishing Traffic Order
To minimize traffic inconvenience for residents and visitors returning home, the district will operate a “Traffic Countermeasure Situation Room” and a “Parking and Stopping Situation Room.” It will open 30 public on-street parking lots, 3 public off-street parking lots, 3 resident-priority parking lots, and 4 school parking lots free of charge to alleviate parking difficulties. In addition, special enforcement against illegal parking and stopping will be conducted around major stations and large marts, and violations such as refusal of rides by late-night taxis will also be cracked down on.
■ Supporting Daily Convenience
A special cleaning plan will be promoted to maintain a pleasant environment. The situation room will promptly handle cleaning complaints, and the cleanliness of the city will be maintained by mobilizing cleaning squads and dust collection vehicles. The district will minimize residents’ inconvenience by providing advance notice of household waste disposal days before the holiday through the district website and SNS alert messages, and will use the “Our Neighborhood Talk” power to quickly and easily deliver holiday-related living information to residents.
■ Strengthening Livelihood Stability
Warm attention and support for marginalized neighbors will continue. The district will support holiday food and goods sharing events and consolation funds, and operate cooking classes where vulnerable children can experience holiday foods. It will also carefully monitor the health and safety of marginalized groups during the holiday by checking on socially isolated households, jointly supporting ancestral rites tables for homeless and small-room residents, and providing meal support for children at risk of food insecurity.
Amid rising grocery prices due to consecutive heavy rains and heatwaves, the district has doubled the issuance of Yeongdeungpo Love Gift Certificates in preparation for the Lunar New Year, issuing about 8 billion KRW worth. It will also focus on inspecting prices of holiday seasonal products such as agricultural and livestock products to stabilize prices.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “In celebration of the great national holiday Chuseok, we have prepared a comprehensive plan covering all areas so that residents can have a safe and enjoyable holiday. Above all, this year we will prioritize the safety of our residents and devote all efforts to support each sector.”
