On the 7th, See the Rare Sangsa Flower in Seoul with the Theme 'A Perfect Day to Love'
From Celebration Performances by Park Seojin and Na Sangdo to Experience Booths and Photo Zones, Full of Attractions and Fun
Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) will hold the "2nd Mapo-gu Lycoris Festival" on September 7th at Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail under the theme "A Perfect Day to Love."
Nanji Island (蘭芝島), once known as a garbage mountain and degraded into a wasteland due to pollution and foul odors, is now taking on a new appearance through the "flower of love," the Lycoris.
In 2023, Mapo-gu planted 370,000 flowers including Lycoris and cluster amaryllis along the Metasequoia Forest Trail in Haneul Park and held the "1st Lycoris Festival," the first of its kind in Seoul, bringing new hope to Nanji Island.
This year as well, the Metasequoia Forest Trail is expected to welcome visitors adorned with red Lycoris flowers.
The festival will run from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, opening with an orchestra performance set against the backdrop of red Lycoris and green forest trails.
Following this, a congratulatory video wishing for the festival's success will be screened with the participation of over 500 residents, and the opening ceremony performance titled "The Birth of Lycoris" will take place.
In the second part of the event, "God of Janggu" Park Seo-jin, "Smile Angel" Na Sang-do from Mister Trot 2, and Namgung Ok-bun will present performances that enhance the autumn atmosphere and excite the visitors.
In particular, singer Na Sang-do will sing the theme song for the "Filial Piety Meal for Seniors Aged 75 and Over," touching the hearts of visitors attending the deepening autumn Lycoris Festival.
Besides performances, various attractions and activities will be available. A thrift market, experience zones, and unique photo zones will be set up to provide diverse experiences for all age groups, further amplifying the festival's enjoyment.
Especially, this festival offers a rare opportunity in Seoul to directly appreciate Lycoris flowers and walk along the flower path.
Mapo-gu has selected Lycoris as the representative flower of the Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail and plans to establish the Lycoris Festival as a signature festival of the district by holding it every early autumn.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "I hope this Lycoris Festival will provide warm memories and joy to all residents," adding, "We will continue to create a vibrant and happy city of Mapo through various cultural events that everyone can enjoy together."
