Gyeonggi Province has appointed left-handed pianist Lee Hoon and broadcaster Kim Kyung-ran as ambassadors for the Gyeonggi Province Disabled Orchestra (provisional name).

Gyeonggi Province will officially launch the "Gyeonggi Province Disabled Orchestra" on December 3rd (International Day of Persons with Disabilities).

Pianist Lee Hoon, who studied in Germany and the Netherlands, suffered a stroke about 10 years ago while pursuing his doctoral degree at the University of Cincinnati in the United States. The stroke damaged nearly 60% of his left brain, resulting in paralysis of his right arm and leg as well as speech impairment. Since then, through diligent rehabilitation and practice, he is now actively working as the director of the Tool Music Disabled Arts Group.

Broadcaster Kim Kyung-ran joined KBS as part of the 27th public announcer recruitment in 2001 and worked as a leading announcer. She resigned in 2012 after volunteering during the Haiti earthquake and has since gained public affection through various acts of sharing and kindness. Recently, she has been active in diverse fields such as theater and variety shows.

Both will actively participate in promotional activities to encourage public interest and support the revitalization of the Gyeonggi Province Disabled Orchestra.

The Gyeonggi Province Disabled Orchestra was initiated last November during a provincial assembly question session when Assemblyman Jang Han-byeol proposed its establishment, which Governor Kim Dong-yeon promptly accepted. The operation of the disabled orchestra will be managed by the Gyeonggi Arts Center, which also leads the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra and the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra. It will be operated for about 40 people per term, targeting registered disabled persons aged 19 and older in the province, with each term lasting two years.

On the 9th, Gyeonggi Arts Center will hold a launch plan announcement ceremony attended by Governor Kim Dong-yeon, representatives from private disabled orchestras, and officials from welfare centers for the disabled, where they will reveal detailed recruitment schedules, methods, and orchestra operation plans.
