Sending a Prison Letter to Karakula Tzyang, Appeals "Unfair"

A prison letter sent by YouTuber Karakula (real name Lee Se-wook), who was detained on charges including aiding and abetting extortion against mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won), has been made public. Karakula's letter reportedly expressed a moral apology to Tzuyang while also claiming innocence regarding the aiding and abetting extortion charge.

On the 5th, YTN obtained and reported a handwritten letter from Karakula to Tzuyang written while in prison. In the five-page letter he personally wrote, Karakula cautiously introduced himself as "Lee Se-wook, who was active on YouTube under the name 'Karakula,'" and expressed feelings of injustice concerning the aiding and abetting extortion part related to Tzuyang.

He also reportedly offered consolation for Tzuyang's painful story and difficult times, appealing for leniency. Toward the end of the letter, he expressed gratitude by saying "Thank you for reading," maintaining a polite tone throughout, while revealing his feelings of injustice and frustration about being labeled as a threat to Tzuyang.

Meanwhile, Karakula was detained and indicted on August 14 on charges including aiding and abetting extortion committed by YouTuber Gujeyeok (real name Lee Jun-hee) and others, who threatened Tzuyang and extorted tens of millions of won. It is known that in February last year, Karakula encouraged Gujeyeok to commit extortion by suggesting that "it is more profitable to directly extort money rather than uploading expos? videos about Tzuyang."

Additionally, he is also charged with threatening another internet broadcaster by saying that "a news article about a scam coin fraud case will be reported," and extorting 30 million won. Furthermore, on the 23rd of last month, Karakula was fined 500,000 won by the court through a summary order for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection by disclosing the personal information of the perpetrator in the Busan dollyeochagi (spinning kick) incident. A summary order is a procedure that imposes fines or penalties without a trial.

Karakula is scheduled for his first trial on the 6th at the Suwon District Court, along with YouTuber Gujeyeok and others, who are known as cyber racketeers.
