Choi Hogwon, Yeongdeungpo District Mayor, Attends 'Gusang Siin-gil' Honorary Road Sign Unveiling Ceremony

On the afternoon of the 5th, Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the unveiling ceremony of the honorary road sign for 'Gusang Poet Road' held in front of Exit 2 of Yeouinaru Station, where he reflected on the poet's noble spirit of authorship together with the residents.


On May 16th, the district commemorated the 20th anniversary of the passing of poet Gusang and designated the 1,553-meter section of Yeouidong-ro, from the 63 Building to the southern end of Mapo Bridge, as an honorary road to honor the poet's literary achievements, who lived in Yeongdeungpo for over 30 years and produced various works.


At the unveiling ceremony, Mayor Choi Ho-gwon of Yeongdeungpo District, along with Lee Sang-guk, President of the Gusang Memorial Association, attended and commemorated the poet's achievements by reciting the poem "River (江)" written by Gusang, which was inspired by the Han River.


Mayor Choi Ho-gwon stated, “Through Gusang Poet Road, we will long remember the masterpieces written by the poet during his long residence in Yeongdeungpo together with the residents. We will continue to carry on the literary legacy of poet Gusang and take the lead in supporting artists’ activities to do our best in making Yeongdeungpo a cultural city.”
