Travelers Departing for China Increase by 208%
Following the government's announcement to designate Armed Forces Day as a temporary holiday, the number of travelers going abroad during the early October holiday increased compared to last year.
According to Chamjoeun Travel on the 5th, the number of travelers departing overseas from October 1 to 4 this year was 10,121. This is a 27% increase compared to the same period last year (7,982).
The number of travelers going to China increased from 225 last year to 694 this year, a 208% rise. Travelers to Southeast Asia increased by 70%, from 2,279 to 3,878. European travelers rose by 31%, from 1,339 last year to 1,751. Travelers to Japan increased by 4%, from 2,336 to 2,431 during the same period.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Travel Doctor announced that reservations for Europe increased by 33% compared to last year's Chuseok holiday, and sales increased by 104%. They added that, beyond the holiday period, the overall number of travelers visiting Europe increased, with passenger numbers rising by 90% compared to last year based on the first half of the year. This is interpreted as a tendency to invest more time and money in a single trip after the endemic phase.
Analysis of the types of travelers planning European trips during the Chuseok holiday showed that couples accounted for 52%. Family trips including children accounted for 28%, followed by group trips with friends or acquaintances and individual travelers.
