Four Enrolled Students Dominate Top Ranks with Ideas and Teamwork
Suncheon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) Startup Support Group announced that all four enrolled students who participated in the ‘UNIV. STAR Startup Camp Competition,’ held to discover young talents who understand and lead global market trends, were honored with awards.
The ‘UNIV. STAR Global Startup Camp,’ which held the final competition at the Vietnam MEGA-US Expo 2024 startup fair, was jointly hosted by seven domestic universities including Suncheon National University, Kangwon National University, Pusan National University, Wonkwang University, Jeonbuk National University, Chonnam National University, Hoseo University, as well as the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology in Vietnam and the Saigon Technology Innovation Hub.

This competition was a global startup contest where Korean and Vietnamese students formed joint teams to propose excellent business models through team building and local market research in Vietnam. It was held locally in Vietnam over five days from the 18th to the 23rd of last month.
More than 160 students who participated in the competition formed teams and conducted preliminary team activities for three months, culminating in the final competition held on August 23rd at the White Palace Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
As a result of the judging, 8 out of 20 teams received awards, and all four student participants from Suncheon National University’s Startup Support Group won top honors.
Kim Da-hye from Suncheon National University’s Department of English Education won first place with the item ‘Suhwa Translation UNPL,’ second place went to Go Kyung-yeon from the Department of Pharmacy with ‘Black Garlic Dragon Fruit Sauce,’ fourth place was awarded to Hong Cham-hee from the Department of Fashion Design with ‘EZD (Vietnam Job Planet Site),’ and sixth place was taken by Lee Yeo-won from the Department of Computer Engineering with the item ‘Nano Cellulose Shower Filter.’
Choi Jung-min, head of Suncheon National University’s Startup Support Group, said, “I am very pleased that the school’s passion to nurture glocal startup talents is finally beginning to bear fruit one by one,” and added, “We will do our best to become a cradle for cultivating glocal startup talents.”
