The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Acting Director Seon Yang-gyu, hereinafter referred to as Gwangyang Economic Authority) announced on the 5th that it held an 'Expert Group Meeting' attended by 21 stakeholders from the steel and e-mobility sectors at the Best Western Premium Gangnam Hotel in Seoul.


This meeting was organized to understand trends related to the steel industry and offshore wind power, and to explore ways to discover potential investment companies in the steel industry sector and attract investment.

The main content of the meeting included a presentation by a representative from Hyundai Steel Industry on 'Domestic and International Trends in Offshore Wind Power and Offshore Wind Power Manufacturing Processes,' followed by a free discussion on discovering potential investment companies in the steel industry and strategies for attracting investment.


The Hyundai Steel Industry representative explained in the presentation, "The global offshore wind power market is currently growing rapidly, with Europe and Asia leading the market. Korea is also expanding offshore wind power complexes in line with this trend and has set a goal to establish 12GW of offshore wind power facilities by 2030."


He added, "In the offshore wind power manufacturing process, the quality of steel and production efficiency are key factors determining the success of projects, making close cooperation with the steel industry essential."


Yoo Hyung-seok, Head of the Steel and Chemical Department at Gwangyang Economic Authority, stated, "Through this meeting with experts in the steel and e-mobility sectors, we hope to further strengthen investment attraction strategies for the Gwangyang Bay Area and seek innovative measures considering the correlation between offshore wind power and the steel industry." He added, "We will continue to promote regional economic revitalization through ongoing cooperation and discussions."
