Free Admission and Various Gonggi Festivals in Parks
On the 8th, the 1st Gangseo-gu Mayor's Cup Listed Race (1200m, 200 million KRW) will be held at Korea Racing Authority Let's Run Park Busan-Gyeongnam (Director: Eom Youngseok).
The Gangseo-gu Mayor's Cup is a race named after the head of the local government where the Busan-Gyeongnam Race Park is located, and is sponsored by the Gangseo-gu Office to promote the development of the horse industry as well as the fields of culture, sports, and tourism.
This race will feature young racehorses who just made their debut at the racetrack in March and April this year, competing in the first event of the Juvenile (2-year-old best horse selection) series.
A total of nine horses (four colts and five fillies) have registered for this major race.
Two progeny each of the familiar names "To Honor and Serve" and "Concord Point" will participate, along with one progeny of "Musket Man." The participant "Winners Rookie" boasts the highest auction price among the entries at 100 million KRW, and shares both sire and dam with "Winners Man."
"Oasis Red" has already competed in three races, making it the most experienced among the entries, and has shown the ability to seize the lead from the start and maintain momentum to the finish line. Also, "Winner Clear," a progeny of "KLIMT," who stood out as a two-year-old and recorded solid results, is scheduled to compete in the Gangseo-gu Mayor's Cup.
Let's Run Park Busan-Gyeongnam will host a variety of performances and events to celebrate the Gangseo-gu Mayor's Cup.
At the park's Derby Square, a flea market and 32 different experience booths will be available. Various programs for families to enjoy together have been prepared, including VR horseback riding, Perler bead crafts, Hanbok experience, making air fresheners, board games, and drone flying. From 3 p.m., a parade and a children's cheerleading performance will heat up the festive atmosphere.
There will also be a variety of cheering events to add excitement to the race viewing.
Starting from the third Busan-Gyeongnam race, spectators can participate in an event where they cheer in designated zones while wearing items in the same color as the jockey's cap. Banners throughout the park will host a major race quiz event with camping gear as prizes, and the winning horse raffle event will offer generous prizes such as Dyson vacuum cleaners and Apple Watches through a drawing.
On the 8th, to commemorate the hosting of Korea's largest global horse racing festival, the Korea Cup and Korea Sprint, admission will be free at all three Let's Run Parks nationwide (Seoul, Busan, and Jeju).
