2024 Marine and Fisheries Policy Forum Held at National Pukyong University

On the 4th, Environmental and Marine Hall... Presentations and Discussions to Be Held

The "2024 Marine and Fisheries Policy Forum," an exchange and cooperation event aimed at responding to the climate crisis and strengthening the competitiveness of the regional marine and fisheries industry, was held on the 4th at the Environmental and Marine Sciences Building of National Pukyong University.

This policy forum, co-hosted by the Busan-Ulsan Regional Association of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (President Jin Seongho), the Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science (President Lim Hangyu), and the College of Environmental and Marine Sciences of National Pukyong University (Dean Lee Taeyoon), was attended by over 100 experts from the regional marine and fisheries industry, academia, research institutes, government, as well as university (graduate) students.


The event featured a keynote lecture on the theme "Climate Crisis! Marine and Fisheries Research to Strengthen the Competitiveness of the Fisheries Industry," along with thematic presentations and a comprehensive discussion.


The keynote lecture was delivered by Choi Yongseok, Director of the National Institute of Fisheries Science, followed by thematic presentations such as "Case Study of Enhancing Urban Brand Using Marine Content: China's Marine City Qingdao" by Dr. Joo Hyunhee of the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, and "Restoration of Marine Ecosystems to Respond to the Climate Crisis! Creation of Marine Ecological Forests (Zostera marina meadows)" by Dr. Song Huijun of the Marine Ecological Technology Research Institute.


The event concluded with a comprehensive discussion chaired by Jung Saengmyeong, Honorary Research Fellow at the Korea Maritime Institute.
