[One Day Walk] Enjoying the Scenery of Hallyeosudo: 'Toyoungiya~gil - Mireukdo Gil'

The course is a 15 km route passing through the Docheon-dong Undersea Tunnel in Tongyeong-si, Gyeongnam, Jeon Hyuk-rim Art Museum, Mireuksan Cable Car, Park Kyung-ri's tomb, and Tongyeong Bridge. Walking steadily takes 7 to 8 hours, but using public transportation or the cable car intermittently can complete the course in 4 to 5 hours.

While 'Toyoungiya~gil - Art Scent Road' is a walking path within the city, 'Toyoungiya~gil - Mireukdo Road' is a peripheral path that includes Mireuksan in its course. However, it is a must-walk course to see the spectacular views of the Hallyeohaesang from the summit of Mireuksan. In 'Toyoungiya~gil,' which means a path good for close friends to walk together chatting, 'iya~' is a Tongyeong dialect term used to casually address older sisters or female friends.

'Mireukdo Road' begins after passing through the undersea tunnel and visiting the Kim Chun-soo Memorial Exhibition Hall. It passes by the Jeon Hyuk-rim Art Museum, known as the Picasso of Tongyeong, then goes through Yonghwa Temple and ascends Mireuksan. From the Mireuksan observatory, looking out over the sea in all directions and the beautiful Tongyeong cityscape, it is hard to take your feet away.

Passing Dosolam Hermitage, Mireukchi, and Miraesa Temple, then Park Kyung-ri's tomb and memorial hall, and passing the dramatic rocky scenery of Hyeongeumsan, crossing the night-view spectacular Tongyeong Bridge marks the end of the course. The undersea tunnel beneath the sea is the start of the course, and the Tongyeong Bridge over the sea is the full stop.

If you only want to see the Hallyeohaesang view, you can take bus number 231 from anywhere on the road crossing the city center continuing from Tongyeong Central Traditional Market, get off at the terminal, take the cable car heading to the Mireuksan summit, and return to Tongyeong city within 2 hours. Another way is to park a car at the entrance of Miraesa Temple and walk about 1 km, approximately 20 minutes, to head to the summit.

In this case, you must walk the 6.6 km Samchingyi-gil trekking course that connects Marina Resort to Sanyang-eup Ilun Village and Iun Village. It is a beautiful walking trail along the calm sea, one of Korea's hidden treasure-like paths. Walking about 4 km, approximately 1 hour, along this path leads to the Park Kyung-ri Memorial Hall, and walking 1 km from the memorial hall reaches Sanyang-eup town. Using public transportation, you can return to the starting points such as Miraesa Temple entrance or Marina Resort within 30 minutes.

Tongyeong citizens enjoy hiking the 11.2 km route by taking bus number 231, getting off at Yonghwa Temple Square, and walking through Yonghwa Temple, Gwaneum Hermitage, Mireuksan summit, Sinseondae Observatory, Miraesa Temple, Yonghwa Temple Square, Bongsugol, and the Undersea Tunnel. It takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes.
