Korea Institute for Small and Medium Venture Businesses Appoints Jo Joo-hyun, Former Deputy Minister of SMEs, as New President

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups appointed Jo Joo-hyun, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, as the 9th President of the Small and Medium Business Research Institute on the 6th.


President Jo served at the Small and Medium Business Administration and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups from 1996 to 2023. His career includes roles such as Administrative Officer at the Presidential Secretariat (2013?2017), Director General of the SME Policy Office and Startup & Venture Office (2017?2020), Director of the Small Business Policy Office (2020?2022), and Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (2022?2023). Since March 2024, he has been serving as an invited professor at the College of Free Convergence, University of Seoul.

With 28 years of public service, President Jo is recognized as an administrative and policy expert in the SME and venture sectors, having planned, executed, and managed corporate policies across various fields including small and medium enterprises, small business owners, startups, and ventures.


The new president’s term is three years. He held an inauguration ceremony on the morning of the 6th and immediately began his duties.
