Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon Meets with Nagasaki Prefecture Delegation

Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon met with a delegation including Oishi Kengo, Governor of Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, at the City Hall International Protocol Room at 4:30 p.m. on the 3rd. They discussed mutual exchanges and various practical cooperation measures between Busan and Japan.

The Nagasaki Prefecture delegation visited Busan to mark the 10th anniversary of the Busan-Nagasaki Prefecture Friendship and Cooperation City agreement (signed on March 25, 2014). The delegation included Governor Oishi Kengo and Chairman Tokunaga Tatsuya.


In July, the city and Nagasaki Prefecture signed the 2024 Friendship Exchange Agreement. As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, a Korean book donation ceremony was held at the Busan Library and a photo exhibition related to the Joseon Tongsinsa was organized in Nagasaki Prefecture.


Mayor Park stated, "For the development of both Korea and Japan, cooperation among cities around the Korea-Japan Strait is important, and especially economic and tourism exchanges with Nagasaki Prefecture are crucial." He added, "I look forward to various exchanges and cooperation as a result of this visit. In particular, in October, we will host various events under the name 'Festival October,' including the Busan International Film Festival and the Asia Startup Expo, so I hope many Japanese officials and tourists will visit Busan and enjoy the festivities."


Nagasaki Prefecture Governor Oishi Kengo said, "Through this meeting with Busan, I hope to have active exchanges in various fields such as port development, tourism, and the economy."


Before the meeting, the Nagasaki Prefecture delegation visited the North Port Redevelopment Project site and the City Hall Deullaknallak site to discuss ways to enhance cooperation.
