Inspection of Apartment Management in Mapo-gu... Audit of Construction, Services, and Long-term Repair Plans

Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) will conduct a comprehensive audit on the management status of apartment complexes from September to October to enhance transparency and efficiency in apartment management.

This audit is conducted in accordance with Article 93 of the Apartment Management Act.

The targets are three complexes selected based on the number of households and the year of completion among apartment complexes subject to mandatory management. A joint audit team composed of external experts such as accountants and engineers, along with public officials, will carry out on-site visits.

The areas of focus include construction, services, long-term repair plans, budgets, accounting, operation of residents' representative meetings, and election management.

The audit team will thoroughly verify compliance with laws and regulations in each area, strictly take action against any detected misconduct, and widely publicize exemplary cases.

Additionally, through continuous audits, the plan is to eradicate corruption and irregularities in apartment management, resolve conflicts among residents, and create transparent and fair apartment communities.

After the audit, education will also be provided to members of residents' representative meetings and apartment management personnel to strengthen individual capabilities.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “I hope the comprehensive apartment audit will serve as an important stepping stone beyond a simple inspection to create a safe and transparent living environment that residents can trust.”

In 2023, Mapo-gu detected 229 violations through audits of 10 apartment complexes. There were 51 violations in general management, 49 in budget and accounting, 24 in long-term repair reserve funds, and 105 in construction and services, all of which were subject to administrative measures.
