The suspect is a 14-year-old male student of the school, and one person has been arrested.

AP News confirmed that the deceased include 2 students and 2 teachers. The 9 injured were transported to hospitals.

Investigators are examining how the suspect obtained the firearm used in the shooting and brought it into the school.

According to the White House Press Office, President Joe Biden received a report on the incident from his staff. In a statement, President Biden said, "We must no longer accept this as normal," calling for a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, strengthening background checks for gun buyers, and removing liability protections for gun manufacturers.

Following the shooting during a campaign event on July 13 involving Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump,

the recurrence of a gun incident at a battleground state school in Georgia raises the possibility that gun control will become a key issue in the presidential election.

Vice President Kamala Harris said during a campaign event in New Hampshire that "It is absurd that American parents have to send their children to school every day worrying whether they will come home alive," and emphasized, "We must end the epidemic of gun violence in our country forever."

She also called for legislation to ban assault rifles and strengthen background checks, stating, "I support the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms), but I know we need reasonable gun safety regulations."

Former President Trump posted on his social media, referring to the incident as "Precious children were taken from monsters too soon."
