Daegu Catholic University will hold a large-scale commemorative concert to mark its 110th anniversary.

This concert has been organized to celebrate the university's 110th anniversary together with members of the university, alumni, and local residents, while reflecting on its long history and tradition.


The 110th Anniversary Commemorative Concert will take place on the 12th at the Grand Hall of Daegu Concert House, featuring a spectacular stage with performances by the orchestra, professors from the College of Music and Performing Arts, and the university choir.


The concert will open with Sibelius's symphonic poem "Finlandia" Op.26, followed by professors Shin Sangjun (violin) and Song Heesong (cello) from the Department of Music performing the first movement of Brahms's "Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor," Op.102.


Hyoeum Vocal Society, consisting of alumni from the Department of Vocal Music, will perform "Nella Fantasia," the art song "River of My Heart," and "Song of the Italian Street" from the operetta "Naughty Marietta" in succession.


Next, Professor Kim Eunju (soprano) from the Department of Music will perform the art song "Sanyuhwa" and "O tu che in seno agli angeli" from the opera "Don Carlo."


The final stage will feature Beethoven's "Choral Fantasy" Op.80, with the orchestra, the piano performance of Distinguished Professor Paik HaeSun?renowned as one of the "Top 100 Living Pianists in the World"?and the harmony of the choir.


Daegu Catholic University plans to invite not only alumni, faculty, and students but also representatives from local institutions, companies, and organizations with which it maintains cooperative relationships. The concert will be held as an invitation-only (free) event for all seats.
