Gwangju Seo-gu, 'Resource Circulation Day' Commemoration Event

Waste Recycling Experience Event to Be Held at Sangmu Citizen Park on the 7th

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) will hold the ‘Good City Seo-gu RE:100’ event on the afternoon of the 7th at Sangmu Citizen’s Park to commemorate the 16th Resource Circulation Day (September 6).


This event was organized to share the resource circulation achievements of the good city Seo-gu and to spread a culture of practicing resource circulation in daily life. Seo-gu will operate a waste recycling experience event under the theme ‘Seo-gu RE:100 (Everything about Recycling)’ for the first time this year.


In cooperation with Korea Environment Corporation, Gwangju Green Environment Support Center, Gwangju YMCA, Beautiful Store, Ingraphics, NID, Art Universe, and KI Ecosystem Co., Ltd., 14 booths will be operated, and 18 resource circulation managers who contributed to establishing resource circulation stores will be commended.


The main programs include ▲Recyclable goods reward market ▲Recycling quiz contest ▲Carbon neutrality point promotion ▲RE:Fill vending machine ▲Terrarium cultivation using disposable cups ▲Making soap bars with coffee grounds ▲Making tarpaulin card wallets & keyrings ▲Exhibition and experience of recyclable automatic collection machines ▲Making robots with solar cells and wood ▲Painting on canvases made from discarded banners, allowing participants to experience unique resource circulation practice programs.


Especially, on this day, an object performance expressing ‘Good City Admiring Seo-gu’ using easily discarded bottle caps in daily life will also be held.


Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “Through this event, I hope many residents will reflect on the meaning of recycling and form a social consensus so that the importance of resource circulation in daily life will spread,” and added, “I hope you actively participate in the Good City Seo-gu RE:100 event.”
