Dongdaemun-gu Opens Direct Market for Chuseok Celebration

September 10, 10 AM to 5 PM, Opening at the Square in Front of the District Office: 150 Items Including Pears, Korean Beef, Dried Persimmons, Wine, and More... Affordable Prices Through Direct Sales by Producers

With the cool breeze blowing in the mornings and evenings, the autumn season has inevitably arrived in September, bringing back the Chuseok direct transaction market.

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 4th that the "2024 Chuseok Agricultural and Marine Products Direct Transaction Market" will be held at the plaza in front of the district office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 10.

This year’s Chuseok market will feature 14 city and county farms from Namhae-gun, Naju-si, Chuncheon-si, and others, which have partnerships with Dongdaemun-gu, as well as the Women’s Federation and Dongmun Enterprise (a vocational rehabilitation center for the disabled).

Producers will sell agricultural and marine products directly, reducing distribution costs so that local specialties and ceremonial foods can be purchased at affordable prices.

At the market, approximately 150 items will be sold, including ▲anchovies and seaweed (Namhae-gun) ▲pears and Sikhye (Naju-si) ▲soybean paste and honey (Jecheon-si) ▲Korean beef, dakgalbi, and wine (Chuncheon-si) ▲apples (Cheongsong-gun) ▲dried persimmons (Sangju-si) ▲sesame oil and cheonggukjang (Cheongyang-gun) ▲wild ginseng and gondre greens (Pyeongchang-gun).

Additionally, the Women’s Federation will offer ▲gat kimchi ▲grapes ▲dried pollack, and Dongmun Enterprise will showcase ▲handmade five-grain gangjeong.

Payments by cash, card, and gift certificates are all accepted, but payment methods may vary by vendor.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “Due to the continuous heatwave this summer, prices of vegetables and livestock products are expected to rise, so we hope that the direct transaction market will help you prepare your Chuseok table at a more affordable price.”
