Suffering from Brain Nerve Paralysis Since 2011
"Muscles and Joints Always Hurt Due to Tension"
Kim Yoon-ah, the vocalist of the mixed-gender band Jaurim, shared an update about her recent visit to the hospital. On the 3rd, Kim Yoon-ah posted two photos on her Instagram story titled "The day of the backup battery again, please take good care of me this month as well." In the photos, Kim Yoon-ah is lying in a hospital bed receiving an IV drip. She revealed her recent health condition, saying, "Lately, I've been dreaming a lot when I'm sick, but my vitality level is faint, so it makes sense. I should grill some Reishi mushrooms and Energizing Bath (a dish from the game 'The Legend of Zelda') to fill up my food inventory."
Earlier, Kim Yoon-ah had revealed on a broadcast last July that she has been suffering from facial nerve palsy for 13 years. She said, "In 2011, after making Jaurim's 8th full-length album, my immune system became very weak, and I developed facial nerve palsy," adding, "I am a congenital immunodeficient, so I still receive treatment every month." She continued, "At that time, the facial nerve palsy affected my sense of smell, taste, hearing, pain, temperature, as well as the muscles from my face to my upper body and the vagus nerve, causing various problems," and explained, "Even now, some functions have not fully recovered due to the aftereffects of the palsy, and I still have slight speech difficulties. I keep suppressing this with effort."
She also confessed, "I really cannot relax my tension," saying, "My muscles and joints are always tight, and I cannot relax even when I sleep, so I wake up feeling stiff." Furthermore, she said, "Not only my body but also my brain is always tense," adding, "I am always thinking about what to do next and whether there are tasks to handle right in front of me, making plans." In conclusion, she said, "Life seems to be the same. If we don't know when this final point will come, if we don't know when death will come, shouldn't we live our best today, right here?"
Meanwhile, Kim Yoon-ah debuted with Jaurim in 1997, creating numerous hit songs and gaining the love of the public, eventually establishing the band as a "national band." When she suddenly revealed that she has been battling facial nerve palsy, many fans expressed concern and worry.
