Held at Seoul Yangjae aT Center from the 5th to 8th
The '2024 Korea Agriculture Expo,' the nation's representative comprehensive exhibition for agriculture and rural areas, opens on the 5th. This expo will also expand the agricultural and livestock product sales promotion event to alleviate the burden of grocery prices ahead of Chuseok.
The Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (NAQS) announced on the 4th that the 2024 Korea Agriculture Expo will be held for four days from the 5th to the 8th at the aT Center in Yangjae, Seoul. First held in 2019, this is the 6th Korea Agriculture Expo. It is conducted annually by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and NAQS to convey the value of agriculture and rural areas as the nation's representative comprehensive exhibition for agriculture and rural communities.

In particular, this expo will expand the sales promotion event for domestic agricultural and livestock products in collaboration with NongHyup, young farmers, and the Duck Fund to ease the grocery price burden ahead of Chuseok. During the expo period (5th?8th), NongHyup will operate an outdoor market selling discounted gift sets of agricultural and livestock products such as rice and Korean beef, as well as seasonal items. Additionally, since the 2nd, an online sales promotion event has been held in partnership with NongHyup Mall, along with live commerce events with Handon Mall.
The 2024 Korea Agriculture Expo is planned under the theme "Rural, Designing Space" to inform the public about changes in rural spaces over the next decade based on the 'Basic Policy for Rural Space Restructuring and Regeneration' announced last March.
Special exhibition halls such as the 'Rural Specialized District Hall,' 'Rural Life Hall,' and 'Youth Startup Hall' have been organized to allow visitors to experience a future rural area where 'living spaces,' 'workplaces,' and 'rest areas' are balanced through rural zoning. The Rural Specialized District Hall showcases seven major rural specialized districts where living, working, and resting spaces are harmonized. Especially in the Agricultural Heritage District, exhibits inspired by three nationally important agricultural heritage sites?the Damyang Bamboo Forest, the Goseong Coastal Doom-bung System, and Jeju Stone Walls?are displayed. The Rural Village Protection District introduces cases of improving rural living conditions such as vacant house regeneration. The Livestock District features an interactive wall where visitors can experience smart livestock production and distribution as well as the energy conversion of livestock resources (manure).
At the Rural Life Hall, visitors can explore rural lifestyle contents that have recently gained interest, such as rural tiny houses, workations, and rural medical services, through various types of stay and exchange programs like '4 Days in the City, 3 Days in the Countryside.' The Youth Startup Hall presents various youth startup cases and hosts networking activities and performance programs where young people from different regions share rural startup ideas and experiences.
Specialized programs unique to the expo include selecting 'soybeans' as this year's agricultural product to provide diverse information about Korean soybeans, hands-on experiences using soybeans, and exhibitions of soybean products by companies in the 'This Year’s Agricultural Product Hall (K-Soybean Festa).' Other events include the 'New Age Wave (NEW AG WAVE) Conference' and the 'Popular Content Awards.'
A NAQS official said, "Through this expo, we have strived to introduce agriculture and rural areas as open spaces for all citizens?living spaces that are good to live anywhere, vibrant workplaces with diverse opportunities, and attractive rest areas. We have prepared various exhibition and experience contents that all generations can enjoy together, so we ask for your great expectations."
