On the 4th, LG Electronics announced that it will participate as the official headline partner for the second consecutive year in 'Frieze Seoul 2024,' held for four days starting that day at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
At the exhibition, artist Seo Do-ho and architect Seo Eul-ho, brothers, reinterpreted the works of their late father, the ink wash abstraction pioneer Seo Se-ok, through the 'LG Transparent OLED TV,' LG Electronics said. This is the first time the LG Transparent OLED TV has been unveiled in Korea.
LG OLED TV delicately captured the original ink wash paintings through an almost infinite contrast ratio. Ink wash paintings express various nuances by adjusting the shades of black ink without using colors. The OLED TV's 'black' expression shines even more.
Visitors can view a media art installation consisting of a translucent installation piece located at the entrance, followed by eight transparent OLED TVs and eight OLED Evo units placed side by side.
They can also enjoy an animation-style media art piece where transparent OLED TVs and OLED Evo units overlap and play together. The original flat paintings were reinterpreted into short animation-style media art, giving them a sense of vitality.
At the back of the exhibition hall, a large media wall composed of 24 OLED signage screens will screen a documentary capturing the working process of painter Seo Se-ok. On the left and right sides, seven original works including 'Joyful Rain' and 'Passerby' will also be exhibited.
Artist Seo Do-ho said about the collaboration with LG OLED TV, "The moment the LG OLED TV screen became transparent, it felt like an experience of seeing the back of a painting that had been invisible for thousands of years."
LG Electronics is promoting the artistic value of OLED TVs and expanding contact points with customers who have a strong interest in art.
Since the 3rd, it has provided OLED TVs and projectors that can be used as digital canvases for the exhibition 'Connected Bodies: Asian Women Artists' held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul.
On the evening of the same day, to celebrate the opening of Frieze, it plans to exhibit media art through OLED TVs at an event held at the same venue.
Oh Hye-won, head of brand communication for LG Electronics HE (Home Entertainment), said, "Through the LG OLED Art Project, we will promote the differentiated value of LG OLED TVs."
