Gumi and Seonsan Dementia Relief Centers Recognized for Excellence in Dementia Prevention Programs and Early Detection Systems

Gumi Dementia Relief Center and Seonsan Dementia Relief Center in North Gyeongsang Province both received the highest grade, Grade A, in the 2024 Dementia Management Project Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Nation's Best... Gumi and Seonsan Dementia Relief Centers Receive Grade A from Ministry of Health and Welfare Gumi City Hall.

This achievement proves that Gumi City is providing a nationally high standard of integrated dementia management services.

This year’s evaluation targeted 256 dementia relief centers nationwide, categorizing them into five regional types: metropolitan cities, special cities, general cities, urban-rural complex cities, and counties. The evaluation criteria consisted of four areas: dementia infrastructure development, dementia service provision and management, and strengthening local dementia capabilities. The evaluation was conducted through on-site assessments, document reviews, data analysis, and surveys.

As urban-rural complex centers, Gumi and Seonsan Dementia Relief Centers received high marks for their dementia prevention programs, early detection systems, and support services for dementia patients and their families. In particular, the early dementia screening projects, customized dementia management programs, and strengthened cooperation with the local community contributed to this achievement.

Choi Hyunju and Lee Eunju, directors of Gumi and Seonsan Dementia Relief Centers, said, “This Grade A result is the outcome of collaboration between our staff and the local community,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to provide even higher quality services to dementia patients and their families in Gumi City.”

Both centers offer a variety of services, including early dementia screening, support for dementia treatment and management expenses, customized case management, provision of care supplies and wandering recognition tags, operation of programs for dementia prevention and deterioration prevention, and campaigns to improve dementia awareness.
